The Opera La Traviata

I absolutely love Operas since I was young, I think my mother gave me that as inheritance (with other things). I have three favourite operas -la Traviata, Aida and Madame Butterfly.

What I love the most in opera is the "deliquentessence" of the music, the magnificence of the acting and also the finest work of the decoration on stage.

La Traviata explained

La Traviata is an opera politics, a reflection on the status of women in a world dominated by men. The libretto is based on a topical: the novel La Dame aux Camelias by Alexandre Dumas son and namesake of the piece, written subsequently.

Dumas tale, a fiction, both fiction and biography, the life of a demi-mondaine: Marie Duplessis (whose real name is Alphonsine Plessis). By the paths of prostitution, the young woman made a meteoric upward mobility. Marie was twenty years old when she became, for a few months, the mistress of Alexandre Dumas son.

Unable to follow the lavish lifestyle of his bond, the writer must leave. Shortly after, undermined by consumption, Marie dies completely ruined. In 1848, he dedicated a novel Dumas worship then, four years later, a play: Marie Duplessis into Marguerite Gautier, La Dame aux Camelias.

Verdi and his librettist Piave kept all the cruelties of the social mirror which reveals the backstage of a society steeped in moral hypocrisy.

Violetta, given the intransigence of Germont, Alfredo's father, sacrifices himself for the future of a girl promised to bourgeois happiness (Alfredo's sister) to which the existence of a sister-past "loaded" would not have allowed access.

Aspiration of Violetta is not just looking for amorous ecstasy, but also a desire for integration.

His sacrifice did not lead, as would the standards of the opera, to madness or the convent but, and this is the real outrage, a return to his status as a courtesan.

This leads to a paradoxical reversal shows Germont, and order "petit-bourgeois" as immoral and Violetta, the woman lost the "misguided" as moral.

In his musical treatment, Verdi carefully avoids any picturesque description. Internalized emotions prevail over the passions exacerbated. The "bel canto" traditional undergoes a new expression. It is not an end in itself, a fireworks display for the beauty of movement and technique, but a way to express the truth of the situation.

The difficult vocal prowess of the great outdoors Violetta at the end of the first act, are just to show the desperate attempt of heroin to return to a world that abhors frivolity. With La Traviata, Verdi manages to make a realistic range of human feelings.

Verdi plays in professional accomplished on the contrasts to highlight the tragic opening begins with an adagio which soar illness and death and leads to a festive atmosphere: the carnival serves as background to the death of Violetta. The school verismo find the foundation of one of his favorite dramatic processes.

Providential death of Violetta, redeemed by love, flatters the good conscience of Germont clan.

What is the moral of love?

Love could be everywhere (in each person you meet)... Let your mind opened, do not let anybody manage your life because life is too short!!!!
